Welcome and we insist that everyone has fun and be respectful to others and the studio.

Punctuality is the sole of business:

Schedules need to be adhered to in a timely fashion in order to avoid obstruction of a free flow of transition of throwing wheels between classes.

Clean up after yourself:

You’ll be responsibleĀ for cleaning up your work area and return tools to their proper location. Do not leave a mess for the next person. A clean studio welcomes good results, health and happiness.

Payment:

The tuition fee is required the first day of the 6 weeks/24 hour session. At least $100 deposit is required at registration. But, you will be billed for your glaze fired work and extra clay when you receive it. When ending a session, you must have a zero balance to pick up your final artwork. Tuition is not refundable once you have completed your first class. The tuition covers the 6 weeks/24 hour session only for the class on the day and time you are registered for, and is not broken down into individual classes or prorated for missed classes.

Missed Class and Make Ups:

If for any reason you are unable to attend class, please call (718) 374-4867, (718) 366-2330 or send email to me at: morowey@earthlink.net if you are giving more than 24 hour notice. This policy is strictly enforced. You will be allowed one make up per 6 weeks session. You will not necessarily have instruction during makeup time it may just be studio time. The makeup must be made within the 6 weeks session, or you can choose to write it off. It is your responsibility to schedule the makeup.

Kiln Firing:

In order to conserve energy and minimize cost, the kiln will only be loaded and fired once enough work has accumulated to justify the firing. We make every effort to process your work as quickly as possible.

Ending your ongoing classes:

If you are taking ongoing pottery classes you are responsible for letting us know when you are no longer going to take classes one month in advance (this does not apply to students who are only taking 6 weeks session). This allows the studio to fill the spot of the ongoing student. The most important thing here is simply communication. Anyone ending their session is responsible for picking up their excess clay, bisque and fired wares within two weeks. If you do not call or return, we will discard them. Leftover clay can be taken home or donated.

Ending your 6 week session:

If you are ending a session, the last two classes will be used for glazing only. If a new student (completing only one session) decides to trim any remaining pots on their last session, they will be charged for an additional class when returning to glaze the remaining pots and a firing fee. Anyone ending their session is responsible for picking up their excess clay, bisque and fired pots within two weeks. If you do not call or return, we will discard them. Leftover clay can be taken home or donated.

Publishing rights:

The studio reserves the right to publish photographs of students and student work for purposes of promoting the activities of the studio, unless they requested otherwise. If anyone wishes to not have photographs of themselves or their work used to promote the studio, they must express this in writing at the beginning of their session. We keep a photo album of students and some of their work on face-book to allow students to share their work with their friends and family.

We reserve the right to refuse future classes to anyone for any reason. Membership can be terminated if the member is not complying with our simple rules, and the Studio deems it necessary to do so. Everyone should be fun loving and respectful. We hope you will consider joining our family of ceramists and painters.

Thank you.
